Some called it madness..

"Yes, some called it madness..i called it 'love'...
yet others called it a blunder, but that was where my heart drove..

nights filled with laughter, days filled with sunshine,
thoughts thick and nostalgic, aging well, as does wine..."

Her thoughts were broken by the shrill horn of an approaching train, as she sat with eyes filled with memories of the past. Bettie pushed aside her thoughts and slowly got up to board the last train from Linden that took her back home to Newark. Bettie was one of those lucky souls to have found a decent job, a decent house and all put together in a decent community. God however had been partial at the time of her birth. As a result, Bettie never came to know what this world looked like. Yes.....she was a blind yet blessed soul.

After an hours journey put her back at her safe apartment, she slowly walked around the familiar rooms, weaving her way about just about as adept as any normal person would. She knew exactly where everything was and she even knew how to operate modern electronic gadgets....she fixed herself a pizza and walked down the hall and flung herself into the couch...ready for some music and food. Slowly she started thinking back, to the days when she had met Norman...that bubbly deep voiced young man, who would come day after day to her dad's home to learn music. But more than that, to meet her on the sly. Their love bloomed along with the music and the lessons were getting hotter day by day. Norman would come up to her and tell her how beautiful she was...since she had never seen herself. Bettie saw the world through Norman's eyes. Even her own self! He would tell her she was the most beautiful woman on this earth for him and she would laugh away at his statements. But what touched her most was the way he would hold her hands. There was a warmth in them, that melted her heart and before long, she found herself saying an YES, when he proposed to her.

When finally all hell broke loose, she was already carrying Norman's child. She still remembered that night when Norman came up to her and held her hands. But they were very cold...the warmth had been replaced with a harshness. "but Bettie...i liked you a lot, but you are blind.."
Bettie had learnt to be strong over the years and she said a simple thing- " Never feel it as a sacrifice...the baby is enough, you may leave"....She was once again broken from her train of thoughts by a shrill voice of the baby crying...She hurriedly got up and went to cradle the baby back to sleep. She was worried about the medicines and she hurried outside to the familiar drugstore nearby when she heard a screech of brakes right in front of her...and then a big shriek from a man. She was stunned for a moment by the crash. When she finally woke up in the hospital, she was informed that a man was rushing to her on the street and an oncoming truck mercilessly crashed into them both. She was the one in a slightly better condition.

"Bettie.....".....she faintly heard Normans whisper from the bed beside hers...Doctors informed her that Norman had suffered injuties everywhere and they were waiting for the transplant of almost three important organs. Bettie, decided to do the utmost. Many called it madness...for her it was still love...even though they had parted, the love was alive in her blind eyes...she gave up everything and left the world...leaving their child in his tear filled arms...

yes, some call it bashful, for some it is a way of life...
some call it stupidity, but for some...it is life.
Everafter.
